Metal Gear Solid 5 on its way? Hideo Kojima asks fans to be patient for sequel
According to a tweet by Hideo Kojima fans can expect another installment in the Metal Gear series in the near future, just how near exactly is another matter entirely.
Hideo Kojima, the producer of the Metal Gear Series, has been at the helm of the game since the franchise since its early days on the PlayStation. His most previous project on consoles was none other than the award winning Metal Gear Solid 4 for the PlayStation 3.
The game would go on to receive more perfect scores, reviews and game of the year awards than one can count and fans have been clamouring in their thousands for more.
Almost as an answer to their prayers Kojima tweeted, “For those of you (who) desire for authentic stealth MGS (Metal Gear Solid), I want you to patiently wait for the sequel coming in (the) future.”
Apart from being rather vague when it came to giving out a release window, the tweet also confirms Metal Gear Solid 5 without actually saying so. What else could an authentic stealth MGS be a sequel for.
At this point there may be some confusion as to another Metal Gear game which has been confirmed and in the news just as much, Metal Gear Rising. Starring Raiden as the protagonist, the game is an off-shoot of the main series and is focused less on stealth and more on the character’s agility and prowess with the sword.
However, recent events seem to indicate that Metal Gear Rising is now set to be a series of its own, with the game getting an extra ‘word’ to set it apart from the other series. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is what the game is officially titled, which means one can expect more games in the series in the future.
What Revengeance exactly means is a bit of a mystery seeing how the word fails to appear in a number of dictionaries, though it could mean taking vengeance for something that has been avenged. If the reader is puzzled at this point, then they should not worry, so is everyone else.
The news about a sequel to Solid Snake’s fourth outing will be welcome news for gamers though the fact that Hideo Kojima is personally taking charge will be just as important.
The producer earlier revealed that he had wanted and tried on more than one occasion to leave the series in someone else’s hands yet he was always drawn back for one reason or another when others could not match the vision of what the Metal Gear series stood for.
As for a release date, well it seems that it has donned a camouflage suit and is hiding in the shadows waiting for just the right moment before revealing itself.
