Gamers can expect Solid Snake to be making his debut on Sony’s second generation handheld portable gaming console, the PlayStation Vita, in June, while they will have to wait until October before they can get their hands on Super Monkey Ball.
Starting things off with a game, which although may not be all that well known, has garnered quite a following over the past few years. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz may sound like the most clichéd title one could come up with for a game about monkeys and bananas, but the latest game promises to be the most “advanced Monkey Ball title yet.”
The game basically focuses around gamers having to navigate a ball, with a monkey inside it, through various puzzles. Banana Splitz will also make full use of the Vita’s features as, according to the game’s publishers it will feature, “Tilt control functionality” which “allows gamers to step inside the Monkey Ball and negotiate the game via motion control, while the PS Vita’s camera can be used to snap real-world objects to create custom stages to challenger your friends and family.”
Continuing with the puns, the publisher also elaborated on the game’s multiplayer component. He said, “Online multiplayer means gamers will be able to go bananas at each other just about anywhere in the world and global leaderboards – accessible via GPS – will set the precedent for just who is the most talented monkey manipulator around.”
The game is set to hit stores on the 26th of October in Europe.
Moving on now to the Metal Gear Solid series and it turns out that the European release date for the game has been announced as the 29th of June. With just over a month to go until release, Sony and Kojima Productions are hoping that Snake’s debut on the platform will prove to be a success and inject some life into the console’s faltering sales.
The game will be out two weeks earlier in the United States where gamers can expect the game to hit shelves on the 12th of June, while Japan will also get the game a day earlier than Europe.
