Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker HD flies at 60fps, God of War and Shadow of the Colossus on their way
There have been plenty who have been dreaming about how games from previous consoles would look and feel like on the current generation of consoles. Rather than just making those dreams come true, video game legend, Hideo Kojima decided to make them even
sweeter after his studio announced that one of the High Definition remastered titles would run at a smooth 60fps.
Before going into too much detail, for those who do not know what fps here stands for, its not First Person Shooter, but rather frames per second. A majority of the games on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 run at around a standard 30fps, with the higher end (read:
‘rare’) games managing to reach the 60fps level.
Kojima Productions, the studio behind the iconic Metal Gear Solid franchise, is bringing a number of titles to the PlayStation 3. The new versions will all be in High Definition and have been remastered since their original releases on the PlayStation 2
and PlayStation Portable.
Kojima was referring to Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker and how the port of the PlayStation Portable game would run at a higher fps rate than a majority of the games already on the market.
The news broke after a tweet from Hideo Kojima, “Wow, 60 fps on HD is great! Say peace!”
Our initial excitement was that of jealousy and how Kojima was taunting everyone at having played the game before everyone else, after which we joined in with the general excitement and anticipation surrounding the news.
While the re-release of Peace Walker is 99 percent confirmed to run at 60fps, it is not the only Metal Gear Solid remastered title which will be making its way onto the PlayStation 3 later on.
Metal gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will be also be among the games which will make up the High Definition collection.
Metal Gear Solid is not the only franchise which is being remastered for the current generation of consoles, as ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are also set to be in development and the two God of War games which were released on the PlayStation Portable;
God of War: Chains of Olympus and God of War: Ghost of Sparta, are both on their way as well.
It seems that Sony has seen the potential and the feasibility in bringing their best selling games of yesteryear back with better graphics, among other enhancements for the current generation to enjoy as well.
Gamers can expect the Metal Gear Solid collection to release near November.
