Metal Worker By Trade? What does "by trade" mean?

  1. It's the type of work you do.

    electrician

    plumer

    carpenter

    those are all trades of construction


  2. means they have either gone to school to learn their job "trade", or have on the job training.

    old saying "jack of all trades, master of none."  means that someone can do a little bit of everything in building but doesn't have the knowledge to do any of them well.

  3. It means what you have been trained have the most experience in a particular job occupation a metal worker is probably someone who works in for example sheet metal, does welding jobs, is employed at a steel mill' is employed at a foundry
