Metal gear solid 3: snake eater?

aaaaaaaah omg! i just rented metal gear solid 3: snake eater from gamefly and when i press start it takes me on what i want to choose, and i choose new game ittakes me to that same screen where they are like 2 man fighting i press start again and it happens all the time how can i fix this?

I haven't played in quite some time, but I think it's because X is the "Cancel" button in MGS3 and "O" is used to select what you want...it takes some getting used to, or I think you can change it in options.
