  1. Several metaphors come to mind.

    1) "Biggest Scam of the 21'st century"

    2) "Rip Off"

    3) "Science Abuse"

    4) "Lunacy"

There are more that I could think of, but those were the first that came to my mind.

  2. Its a beast!

  3. Slow-motion train wreck.

  4. Oil company profiteering scam!

  5. The best metaphor would be the four seasons:  Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...only it occurs over the course of lifetimes instead of a year.  We were born during a "Summer".  We probably won't live long enough to see the "Fall", as it's so many years away.  Having such a short perception of global time-scales, it's easy to see why many worry.  If man's lifespan were but a few hours, we'd fear the setting/rising of the sun, the gradual warming of the morning or the gradual cooling of the evening.

  6. Climate change, Chicken Little's baaack.

  7. Pre-Vatican II Catholicism.

Carbon footprint = original sin and carbon credits = papal indulgences.
