My fiance and I are getting married in two months (yay!), and would like to choose some readings with a little more depth and not just stating the obvious...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :)

  1. Touched By An Angel Maya Angelou

    We, unaccustomed to courage

    exiles from delight

live coiled in shells of loneliness until love leaves its high holy temple and comes into our sight to liberate us into life.

Love arrives and in its train come ecstasies, old memories of pleasure, ancient histories of pain.

Yet if we are bold, love strikes away the chains of fear from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity In the flush of love's light we dare be brave And suddenly we see that love costs all we are and will ever be.

Yet it is only love which sets us free.

  2. Look DEEP within your Heart!

Shut off the brain and let your Heart speak!

Let your emotion flow. How do you feel? How did you feel? What do you see in the future? Just a couple ideas.

Look into "Weddings from the Heart".

There is so much that can be said but remember it is not the WORDS we remember, rather it is the EMOTION behind the words that carry the impact!

    ~BLESSINGS~DIVINE LOVE~HEALING LIGHT TO ALL~

  3. From "The Prophet"

    by Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931)

"Your friend is your needs answered. He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving. And he is your board and your fireside. For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.

When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the "nay" in your own mind, nor do you with hold the "aye." And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart; For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unclaimed.

When you part from your friend, you grieve not; For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.

And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit. For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught.

And let your best be for your friend. If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also. For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill? Seek him always with hours to live. For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness. And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed."

From "Know Thyself, Know Thyself More Deeply"

    by D.H. Lawrence

"Go deeper than love, for the soul has greater depths,

love is like the grass, but the heart is deep wild rock

    molten, yet dense and permanent.

Go down to your deep old heart, and lose sight of yourself.

And lose sight of me, the me whom you turbulently loved.

Let us lose sight of ourselves, and break the mirrors.

For the fierce curve of our lives is moving again to the depths

out of sight, in the deep living heart."

    From "Corelli's Mandolin"

    by Louise De Bernieres

"Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion... That is just being "in love," which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident."

  4. How about a section of a children's book about friendship and love.  I almost did a part from "Winnie the Pooh"...when they talk about being friends forever. :O)
