  1. Any information from someone who can't distinguish between comets, asteroids and meteors really should be discounted!  Meteors enter the Earth's atmosphere every day.  Given that most of them are smaller than grains of sand, and certainly cannot be predicted,  I suggest if you want to worry over something,  you make it something like what to have for breakfast, it is more important!

  2. wrong...,. metoer passes BENEATH our satalites in 2029...(on a friday the 13th no less) depending on exactly the part of space it passes through (scientist call it the 'keyhole') and it could DEFINATELY come back 7 years later (again on friday the 13th... quite a coincedence huh?) and hit us.

  3. LoL!

    where did you hear this?

There's absolutely no way they could predict something like that 6 years out, and if they had I think it would be big enough news people would know about it....

and if an ELE meteor was going to hit Earth in real life, there's really n othing we could do to stop it, just huddle as many of the brightest minds as far under the Earth as we can and hope the human race survives it.

  4. Arrgghh!

    I wanna LIVE!

  5. If you are refering to a possible impact by 2003 QQ47 on 21 March 2014 which briefly made the news on September 2, 2003 then you can sit down and have a cup of your favourite beverage, comfortable in the knowledge that it won't happen.  Here's how I responded to essentially the same question when it was asked about 3 months ago...

This is old information from soon after the object was discovered. It has now been extensively observed and is a numbered minor planet (143649) 2003 QQ47.

Its closest approach to Earth in 2014 is at a distance of around 20 million km on March 26, 2014.

Its chance of striking the Earth then is precisely zero.

It was removed as a risk from JPL's risk listing on September 14, 2003.

  6. scientists say a lot of things...  dont believe a thing they say..

    just LIVVEE!!

  7. haven't heard about a meteor in 6 yrs, but I do know that on Dec.21st 2012 the north and south poles will shift to opposite positions( rotating the earth all the way around) and cause cataclysmic damage!

  8. There is no known meteor that's going to hit in 6 years.

There could be an unknown one that would hit then, but no one knows of it's existence if there is, so whoever told you one was going to hit was full of c**p.

This site will tell you all known potential impacts, and their impact probabilities - http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/risk/

The highest impact probability in the list is 1.3e-3, which is about a 1 in 770 chance.  And it's a small object that poses no threat.  There is only one object on the whole list with a Torino Scale rating greater than zero.  It's only a 1, which means "A routine discovery in which a pass near the Earth is predicted that poses no unusual level of danger. Current calculations show the chance of collision is extremely unlikely with no cause for public attention or public concern. New telescopic observations very likely will lead to re-assignment to Level 0."

  9. currently, we have no technology to stop an asteroid from hitting us

i just have to say that i don't care about 2012 or any other disaster

the beings of earth r terrible, most of us can't get along with eachother, how the h**l can we get along with beings from other planets

i feel as though this planet is a waste of space

the sins of most of the ppl on earth have doomed the rest of us...

  10. I heard that it was 2027 and it wasn't actually going to hit, but come so close as to pass between the moon and earth.  It was to skip off the atmosphere and this alteration in it's trajectory would put it on a course to strike the planet in 2037.

I heard it on Neal Boortz.
