Meter on the entrance of freeway?

In CA, it is legal to split the lane. Before entrance the freeway, there are 2 lanes that control cars enter freeway by meter (just like traffic light). Do motorcycle allow follow 2 cars that run when green light on or have to wait for red light to wait for next green light on? I just split the lanes and ride with 2 cars to enter freeway without stop, is it legal or will be stopped by polices someday? Thanks.

  1. Freeway ramp meter sign R89 is defined as regulatory in the CA DOT approved supplement to the federal MUTCD.  Failure to obey that sign is a violation of Veh C § 21461(a).  The R89 sign reads, "1 CAR PER GREEN".  I fail to see how your actions would be unlawful.  Ride on!

    */End of Line.

  2. Get your tail over to the HOV lane. Usually is one at metered ramps.  Buses and motorcycles are ok with only one person.  Cars and trucks must have two. (HOV= High Occupancy Vehicles)

  3. Splitting lanes is legal in California, just use common sense.

  4. you might get pulled over for something like that, it depends on the cop. but what you're doing is illegal.

  5. The sign says "One Car Per Green Light". It doesn't say anything about motorcycles!   If you got a ticket you could try explaining this to the judge.  He would probably not be sympathetic.

    But I see a lot of people in cars just zooming through those lights.  It's very unlikely a cop would see you, let alone pull you over.
