Method of finding distance to nearest point?

Question

Alright suppose you have a cube. There is an infinite number of cubes surrounding it but one of those cubes is closer to it than any other cube. How would you go about finding which cube was the closest one? Keep in mind i'm thinking in 3 dimensions.
