Method to transport perishable food in luggage?

I am trying to bring some perishable food from US to another country via airplane. It takes about 36 hours to reach, so without special packaging these food will go bad before it reaches the destination. Do you know any method to keep the food fresh, it will be kept in the luggage all the way.

what kind of food are you bringing? when we would visit family abroad we'd always bring back delicious pastries and pita bread. we'd freeze them for the 10 hour flight and they would be completely fine when we arrive. it depends on the type of food youre bringing, but id suggest freezing if its possible.

First of all, it is generally not allowed to transport perishable food across state & country lines.  Have you checked with your ports of entry on this? (agriculture on entry country). It could be confiscated.

However, the belly of planes are not heated, so it is VERY cold in there.  Where it will heat up is awaiting loading & unloading.  There is not much you can do about that--packing coolants is not allowed.  Besure & wrap in foil & plastic to prevent leaking.

Check with your specific airline to be sure, but some will allow tightly sealed coolers packed in dry ice (this may freeze the perishables however).  Ice packs MIGHT be allowed but are generally not.  Seal the cooler with duct tape.  Obviously this is for checked baggage, not carry-on.

That said, make sure your are allowed to bring whatever it is into the country you are going to AND any country you will be stopping in where luggage will be offloaded (like a plane change).  Many countries have very restrictive rules on what can be carried in, ESPECIALLY perishables such as meat and fruit.  At a minimum, expect a more thorough customs inspection.
