Metrolink question?

Question

If I go on an amtrak train from San Juan Capistrano,to Los Angeles, and if I want to take the metrolink back to san juan from los angeles, do I need to buy an additional ticket, or can I use my amtrak ticket...I thought I read somewhere that amtrak tickets work for metrolink...Thanks!!

How do you use an Amtrak ticket on Metrolink trains? The Amtrak ticket does not fit in the ticket validator machine.

A: All Amtrak ticket types (one-way, round trip, multi-trip and monthly pass) are accepted for travel on any Metrolink train. Show your Amtrak ticket to the conductor and he/she will highlight the ticket for your trip. All Amtrak tickets show dates of validity so they do not require machine validation. When your Metrolink conductor inspects your Amtrak ticket, he/she will note the dates and will highlight the ticket to cover your trip

Your Amtrak tickey should work you may have to trade at station.
