Metropolitan museum of art?

I went to the metropolitan museum of art in New York and when I went to go pay the cashier and she told me it was a suggested price to get in. does it mean i can go in with out paying at all?

  1. The policy had always been that you must pay something, but you can pay what you want.

    I know someone who always paid a penny when he went. No, I wouldn't recommend this, but the point is, you really can pay what you want.

    Oddly enough, I was just there today! I took my 12 year old with me. I paid $5 each for us. I gave the woman a 20, told her I wanted to pay $5 each and she gave me $10 in change and my little Met tags. She didn't bat an eye!


  2. its a suggested donation..  if you dont wanna give anything you dont have to, but im sure you can spare a dollar to visit the fine museum
