Mets finally dismiss Charlie Samuels
Major League Baseball has entered the off season and it doesn’t take much to know that the sides in both the National and the American League are up to the task to work out ways to improve the clubs and maintain a better standard in the dugout. Most of the
hot topics on the agenda deal with streamlining issues, injecting finances and bringing in good players, available in the market. The aim is clear and it takes a lot for the General Managers to do when they have a number of decisions to make when it comes
to reorganization and restructuring.
The top teams in leagues are focusing more on the Free agents’ market, at the moment. The task is at its definite peak. Teams are looking to infuse fresh blood and invaluable experience to the squad. The only problem at the moment points at the level of
finances available for the stretch. The New York Yankees are stronger than any other team in the market and their influence is relatively strong. Nevertheless, there is the factor of doing the right thing and choosing the right stars for the vacant roles.
Brian Cashmore is going after Cliff Lee and on the other hand, the Boston Red Sox are also doing their best by heading straight into the market for Jayson Werth, Carl Crawford and Victor Martinez. With a vacant catcher’s position and a long list of injuries
troubling the side, there is a need for experience up front and in the outfield.
While the bigger clubs are looking for those kinds of players, the New York Mets are reshaping their team to accommodate the changing baseball forum, prevailing at the moment. Sandy Alderson was taken from Major League Baseball Latin America operations recently
and now the former governing body member is the General Manager of the Mets. Though, the task may be hard for the new head in the operations, the ball club has appointed a long list of assistants to the new GM.
However, the change comes after Mets manager Charlie Samuels was suspected of indulging in gambling and betting over ballgames. He was also suspected of using Team funds for his elusive activities. The gaffer has reportedly accepted the charge now and the
team has indefinitely terminated him from the payroll. Samuels was a member of the Mets since 1976.
