Metta World Peace unapologetic after hitting Oklahoma City Thunder’s James Harden with elbow– NBA Update
The Los Angeles Lakers troubled forward Metta World Peace has broken his silence on the elbow incident that landed him a suspension. Metta however, is not too apologetic about his appalling display, but has rather put the blame on his victim and Oklahoma City Thunder guard James Harden.
The Lakers forward came on for an interview with Conan O’Brien, and incredibly pointing the blame at James Harden who, according to World Peace, "runs into people's elbows. When somebody dunks, he puts his chin right there. He did it to (Knicks center) Tyson Chandler."
The amazing statement was all the more appalling considering the fact that the Lakers man had assaulted Harden from behind. He hit Harden right in the head with a vicious elbow and the OKC player had to be taken out of the game and suffered a concussion that kept him out even longer.
World Peace however feigned total ignorance of his attack.
"I felt something , but I didn't know it was his actual head," World Peace told O'Brien.
World Peace, who was formerly known as Ron Artest, has a history of violence on and off the court, and has faced lengthy suspensions before. Most notably when he got into a fight with NBA fans.
After his last act of petulance, even his teammates shied away from defending his conduct, but that doesn’t seem to have affected the player one bit. He told O’Brien that he didn’t even call to apologize to Harden after he sent the latter to the hospital.
"When it happened, you know, I didn't realize he was that hurt until the day after, because guys in the NBA flop," World Peace said. "So I called some third parties, and they said he was OK.”
Instead, the former Indiana Pacers man suggested that the competitiveness of the game refrained him from calling to check if Harden was ok.
"It's so competitive, you know, I wanted to make sure he was OK first, so I did that. But to call him to make sure he's OK? I didn't want to do that."
James Harden and Metta World Peace could come face to face again if the Lakers progress to the second round of the playoffs.
