Turkish international, Mevlut Erdinç, scored his 50th goal in Ligue 1 against LOSC Lille on day 25 of the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 Championnat. The 25-year-old was bought from Paris Saint-Germain in the winter transfer window and is proving to be a major
coup for Frederic Antonetti’s side.
The Turk scored 24 goals in the league for Sochaux, 24 for PSG and now has already scored 2 for Rennais and more could follow.
It was Erdinç who levelled the game for Rennais against Lille and his overall performance in the game was satisfying as well. Erdinç is also happy with his performances and is looking to continue scoring goals regularly for his new team.
Rennais chased the game for most part of the 90 minutes but Erdinç feels that his side deserved a draw for their efforts because none of the players gave up hope.
“It is a reward for all of us. We continued to hope. One can be happy given the context. We showed that we had pride,” says Erdinç.
In any case, Frederic Antonetti and the Breton club should be proud of successfully reviving a striker who was half-mast at Paris Saint-Germain earlier this season. With his two goals, the Saint-Claude native has helped his side to four points. His first
goal came in the 1-0 win against Nancy Lorraine in Week 23.
Though it’s obvious that Erdinç is yet to adapt to his new teammates, there are great signs that he will do so in a few weeks.
By scoring a goal against Lille, which keeps Rennais’ chances of playing in the Champions League next season alive, Erdinç should become a focal point in attack for his side.
His former teammate at PSG, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Guillaume-Hoarau-c15332, was decisive for his team and Erdinç did exactly the same for his new side which is a sign that the Turk’s nightmares are now behind him.
