http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Turkey-c3026 international Mevlut Erdinç was certainly one of the most-wanted Ligue 1 strikers this January before he ended all speculation regarding his future by signing a three-year deal with Frederic Antonetti’s Stade Rennais.
Stade Rennais paid PSG 8 million Euros for the services of Erdinç.
Last year, Erdinç had said that he wanted to stay at Paris Saint-Germain as he wanted to win trophies. Though his loyalty with the Ile giants should not be questioned, the Turk would never have been an integral part of Les Parisiens even if he had stayed
there.
Since the beginning of the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 campaign, Erdinç struggled to become a regular starter both under former coach Antoine Kombouare and under Carlo Ancelotti.
Other than a 28-minute cameo appearance in the Coupe de http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 win over Locmine (fifth division), the 24-year-old was never going to be part of the Italian manager’s plans.
The first half of the 2011/2012 campaign has indeed been a painful episode for Erdinç who also saw his national side Turkey miss out on a berth for the 2012 European Championships.
At Stade Rennais, Erdinç would be looking to make a fresh start and rejuvenate his career.
While talking to the media, Erdinç explained the reasons behind his departure from Parc des Princes. Erdinç admitted that though his situation at PSG had become increasingly difficult, he will always have good memories of his time in Paris.
"But now I just want to show what I'm worth. I've come to an ambitious club that keeps making progress year after year. I had offers from overseas, and it's true I could have earned more money there, but I decided to give priority to the sporting side of
things."
With the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonathan-Pitroipa-c19052 away on national team duty at the African Cup of Nations, Erdinç will certainly have enough opportunities to impress coach Frederic Antonetti who has
been a keen admirer of the Turkish international for a long time.
