Mevlut Erding extends contract with Paris Saint-Germain – Ligue 1 news
According to latest reports emerging from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899, Paris Saint-Germain striker Mevlut Erding has extended his stay at Parc des Princes until 2014 and will fulfil the role of second striker for Les Parisiens.
After attracting many suitors from English Premier League such as Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Wigan and Fulham, the Turkish international arrived from FC Sochaux in 2009 for a fee in the region of 9 million Euros.
Newcastle United were keen on signing the Turk but the young striker chose not to join the Geordies, even though manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew was desperate to see the Turkish international land at Saint James’ Park.
Following his arrival at PSG, Erding scored his first goal in the second week of Ligue 1 against Le Mans. Though he suffered a foot injury and was out much of the season, he was able to score seven league goals in 11 games by December. He was the top scorer
for Les Parisien in the 2009/10 season and third in the overall league top scorer chart with 15 goals in 31 games including a hat trick against his former club Sochaux.
Stade Rennais were fascinated by the Franco-Turkish striker and had approached the capital club for a possible transfer in the 2011 summer transfer window. Erdinc nearly joined Route de Lorient, but PSG had to retract the deal when they were unable to find
an ideal successor to the Turkish before the closure of the transfer window.
Paris Saint-Germain recruited nine players and spent more than 80 million Euros in the 2011 summer transfer window. The Saint-Claude-born Turk knew he would not be able to see past the bench due to the crowded camp at Parc des Princes and had intended to
join Rennes.
With new recruit http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Guillaume-Hoarau-c15332 going as planned, the 24-year-old’s first team chances would fall even
lower.
Though PSG have extended the contract of Mevlut Erding, the capital club will be hoping that the extension would result in an increase in the selling price of the want-away striker in future transfer windows.
