I don't want to buy the insurance from the rental agency. Can I get it from another agency like they offer in San Diego?

  1. I don't see how you could buy the ins. BEFORE renting the car as the ins. has to be for that specific car.  There was a similar question here a week or so ago and several people answered saying he ins. from the agency was a reasonable rate.

  2. Call the Cancun experts at 1-888-862-3806

  3. Mexican car insurance does pay, I know because I live in Mexico and have used it.  If you rent from an international agency like Hertz and you have other insurance, you don't have to buy their insurance, however, if there is a problem, you'll have to deal with the Mexican insurance company, etc. and if you are on vacation, it is not worth the hassle.

    All the best to you.

  4. you have to have liability insurance, it is mandatory there, but the collision insurance is an option. if you have a visa card it should be covered as long as you pay for the car rental with visa and also not accept collision insurance from the rental company.

  5. Yea I am pretty sure. The last time I went with my family we didnt need to have a Mexican auto Insurance. You just have to pay for it. Thats all we did and we got the car.
