I'm looking to take a cruise and the 4 day cruises which go from La, catalina island, ensenada, then La again are under $300. The 7 night cruises are around 500 dollars but you get puerto vallerta, cabo san lucas, mazatlan, then back to LA. I want to party and also have a romantic time. Is the 4 days trip to Catalina and ensanada what I'm looking for?

  1. i have done both and the 7 day is a better "Mexican" experience and if you have the time much more fun . also more sea days for romance

  2. Do the 7-day cruise and you will NOT be sorry.  If you do the 4-day you will be headed back home just when things start getting good.  We did the 7-day that you mentioned a few years ago and I loved Cabo.  Puerto Vallerta was OK too and we also did Acapulco.

The $500 price is probably for an inside cabin and that's fine if that's what you want.  An outside or balcony cabin will be a few hundred more per person, but in my view well worth it.  I always get a balcony cabin and really love it.

  3. The party cruises are the three night cruises that leave on Friday and return on Monday.  The three night cruises go to Ensenada and spend one day at sea.

The four night cruise passengers are known as the newly wed, the nearly dead and the over fed.  If that is the crowd you seek, then book the four night cruise.

The one week cruises cost more as you noted, and thus tend to have more people who can afford the more expensive cruise.  These tend to be adults with good jobs (some bring their families) and these are not your typical "party hardy" types.

If it is romance you seek, then the four or seven night cruise is what you are looking for.

  4. well, if i were u, i would go on the 7 day because that is a very cheap price for 7 days....i took a 5 day and it was 700 dollars...but it depends what kind of person you are...if u want to party and have a romantic time, I would definitely go with the 7 day

  5. Is this a trick question, a mexico cruise that goes to catalina island, how about that!   Maybe I dont quite understand the question.   I dont think you would like Ensanada>!

  6. The only "Mexican" part on the 4-day is Ensenada (NOT fun or romantic!)

If you look at it like this: $300 divided by 4 days in actually more expensive than $500 divided by 7 days.... also 4 days is way too short!

  7. I would only take the 4 day cruise if you have never cruised before and want to get an idea of what cruises are like.  On the 4 day cruise I took, there were too many times that activities were not happening or were suddenly cancelled.  I had more fun in the ports.  The 4 day was through Royal Caribbean.  The 7 day was through Carnival cruises.  The 7 day cruise is definitely what you are looking for.  They have plenty of activities throughout the day into the night.  There are various ranges of shore excursions depending on what activity level interests you.

  8. The 4 day is a crazy party ship, with lots of drinking.

Carnival is famous for this... some trips have lots of trashy people with no manners.

The 7 nt are a bit tamer. I would consider the other cruise lines that have similar trips out of LA or San Diego.

Look at NCL, Princess, Royal Caribbean,Celebrity, Holland America.

To me, Carnival is like Motel 6 at sea.

They are probably the largest cruise company in the world, but not necessarily the best.  Price arent always cheap either.

I prefer NCL.  Their ship STAR goes out of LA/San Pedro for 8 nts.

The best prices that I have found overall are from  www.cruisequick.com.

HOWEVER they do not hold your hand. What I mean is that you need to know what cruise you want, what ship, date and category. You cannot call them, they do not answer a phone.

They are internet based only, completely legitimate, and offer a bonus or discount that most other agents don't offer.

They work on a flat fee profit and are completely automated.

    They do answer emails promptly.

Their site explains how they work. I have used them for years, without any problems.  They offer free price quotes via email that include all port fees, taxes etc.

    Happy Cruising !

  9. Take the time if you can and do the 7 day. I have taken 5 cruises ranging from 4-8 days and all are great fun and can be romantic so which ever you choose have a great time. Your choice may also depend on what you want to visit. I find cruises a great way to see places I don't necessarily want to spend a week at.

  10. I would definitely do the 7 day. It's longer and you have more time to party and you have more time to geet to know some single women if thats what your into to. So I think the 7 day cruise would be perfect for you.

  11. Go for the 7--remember 4 nights is only 3 1/2  days.   Cabo is great too.  Ensenada not.

  12. If you have the time take the seven day. You won't be in such a rush. Also if you like water sports the areas in puerto vallerta, cabo san lucas, mazatlan are better.  We took this cruise last Oct. In puerto vallerta we got a 4 hour spa package for $50.....Cabo was fun. I went to sammy hager's cabo wabo......Have fun what ever you decide!!
