What can you tell me about this?

I went down to Mexico to do body guarding work for a client. One of the other bodyguards had one of these badges/ID cards. Whenever he showed this badge to a police officer or any military officer he was instantly treated like a VIP and was allowed to go anywhere without him or anybody with him being searched or questioned.

  1. sounds like he had some pretty hefty contacts within the govn to me.  never heard of it myself.

  2. Did it have colored enamel, as well, in a leather wallet?  If so, it sounds like the official government identity card - not a badge, per se, but no less commanding of attention (of course, everything is available for a price, so even if the body guard did not have any official status, he would be seen as someone who had powerful enough connections).
