Mexican/Latino funeral question????

Question

The other day I was driving through a Latino neighborhood on the way home from work and noticed that there were like 40 cars parked on a sidestreet and it looked like there was a coffin on display in an open garage with many lights at this one house. I've never seen any kind of viewing being done in a persons garage. Is this some kind of custom or a once in a lifetime thing? Also there was a sign posted not to take any photos

yeah i can see all the cars but a coffin in the garage? usually that is done in a certain place for funerals or churches, tho i wouldnt be surprised.

That wasnt a coffin that was a UPS package  from Mexico filled with 5 family members and they just opened it up and started their reunion .... they dont want photos so they dont get caught .

That's so ghetto.  I'm hispanic and are funerals aren't in our garages hahahaha
