1. TERES mexian food

    on melrose and cahuenga

  2. EL RANCHITO THEY HAVE SOME GOOD FOOD THERE

  3. Consider these local favorites in Los Angeles. These are all really great, very established and authentic hot spots. Well known amongst the locals; movie industry; cops; politicians, etc... I've frequently dined at all of these locations and they're all consistently very good!

LA PARRILLA ("The Grill". Very authentic grilled meats; seafood or vegetables served in a "mocajete" with homemade corn tortillas) (Zagat Rating!)

    (323) 262-3434

2126 E Cesar E Chavez Ave, Los Angeles,

LA SERENATA DE GARIBALDI (Zagat Rating!) EXCELLENT & very trendy Mexican cuisine!

    www.laserenataonline.com

(Boyle Hgts; West Side Pavillion and Santa Monica)

    (323) 265-2887

    1842 E 1st St

    Los Angeles, CA

EL TEPEYAC (323) 267-8668 (go early to avoid lines)

(Challenge yourself and try the "Hollenbeck Burrito")

812 N Evergreen Ave Los Angeles, CA 90033

KING TACO (numerous locations throughout L.A. County)

    www.kingtaco.com

    ALEGRIA ON SUNSET (323) 913-1422

    3510 W Sunset Blvd

    Los Angeles, CA

(Another little "gem" of a restaurant. Go early to avoid long waits. Very healthy cuisine too)

CIELITO LINDO (great taquitos....on Olvera St.)

    (213) 687-4391 www.cielitolindo.org

23 Olvera St, #E, Los Angeles, CA 90012

This one is in El Monte (L.A. County)...not the same owner as above.

    CIELITO LINDO

This is great if you want Mexican food w/a very nice show.

    www.elcielitolindo.com (626) 442-1254

1612 N. Santa Anita Ave., South El Monte, CA

If you're looking for really great and authentic tamales, consider (it's not a restaurant):

    LA MASCOTA BAKERY (323) 263-5513

    2715 Whittier Blvd

    Los Angeles, CA

This is a really good fast food Mexican seafood place

(They have several of these locations throughout L.A. County). Good & cheap

PESCADO MOJADO (interpreted as "The Wet Fish")

    (213) 413-8712

1701 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA

    another is at

    (213) 480-6620

610 S Rampart Blvd, Los Angeles, CA

(The original founders of the EL POLLO LOCO chain are the same ones who founded & created PESCADO MOJADO)

    LEONORE'S MEXICAN VEGETARIAN FOOD

11403 Victory Boulevard, North Hollywood/Sherman Oaks area (in The Valley) (818) 980-9011

    (Try their chicken empanadas).

Here's another consideration. This is Spanish food from Spain. Different from Mexican Food. However it's a real hidden "gem" of a hole in the wall type restaurant (EXCELLENT paella; tapas and Spanish tortillas [not to be confused with flour or corn tortillas commonly served in Mex. Restaurants]).

    RESTAURANT SPAIN (Eagle Rock area)

    (323) 667-9045 www.restaurantspain.net

1866 Glendale Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026

Hope this helps. It'll give you a wide variety to choose from in various parts of Los Angeles.

  4. ACAPULCO! It's soo good! Come for brunch you can make your own omelets and the home fries are pretty good. .

  5. el cholo resturant.alegria on sunset. those are the ones my uncle likes best.

  6. They're all over the place but the grand daddy of them all is El Cholo. The original is on Western, There is one in Santa Monica, I believe downtown, and one in La Habra. The same company runs an English pub type restaurant nest to the La Habra restaurant. Try the green corn tamales, L A Lemonade (premium margarita) and ask if they would make a Las Hades for you (not on the menu).

  7. Tacos el Gavilan !! Florence Ave. and Santa Fe .

  8. Antonio's on Melrose...really good.
