Me and my girlfriend (she's salvadorean) were talking about stereotypes, jokingly. She claims I'm more white than Mexican, so I tried to conjure up as many stereotypes as I couldto back up my "Mexican level". Again, all this was in fun. Well, I could only come up with so many stereotypes that she couldn't trump with rebuttals such *** "That's a Texan stereotype" or "All guys like that", so I figured I'd ask ya'll for a list of exclusively Mexican or Mexican American stereotypes. Have at it!

  1. Stereotypes are often nothing more than BS. For example Mexicans were stereotyped as being lazy but now they're stereotyped as taking jobs from Americans. They're mainly based on what people see on television or in films rather than reality.

  2. There is a huge illegal Mexican population in my area, so that is going to be the first stereo type you would hear if you came to my town...  They are all illegals, live 20 people to a single family home, and work under the table.  When they go shopping, they bring 15 kids all under the age of 5, dont watch them.  They make a worse mess than the kids, pretend they cant understand a word you say until it comes time to pay and then they speak fluent english as they try to argue the price down for 45 minutes or dig through change purses to pay in pennies, or deciding at the register what they can afford and what they cant...  I understand they may not be able to speak english, but numbers are the same in both languages.

For the most part stereo types are bad.  I wouldnt want to identify with the stereotypes of any group, actually, and Im not sure why you would want to either.

You will share the same culture of the culture you grew up in, and will have the same bilogical heritage of those you are blood related, thats the bottom line.
