There is a mexican dish that my sister in law cooks but will not give up the recipe. The dish is soupy. I know some of the ingredients but not the entire recipe. Some of the ingredients are Pinto beans, hots dog bits, bacon, cilantro and jalapeno peppers. I cannot figure out the rest of the recipe. Does anyone know the name of this dish and could someone please provide me with the recipe? Thanks

  1. Is it frijoles a la charra? That is what it sounds like. Except the hot dogs but everyone puts something different in it. you might want to look it up on yahoo food. or just keep a close eye on what she puts in it.

  2. try mixing all that stuff up..maybe it will turn out similar.

  3. what a greedy you know what. sorry i dont know. i dont cook

  4. The Jalepeno Cilantro Dip!

  5. why dont u just ask her

  6. Today is your lucky day! I know this recipe :)

First you will need about 1 lb of dried pinto beans.

The bacon and hot dogs are cooked with the beans.

Don't boil the beans too hard because they will break and become mushy.

Add salt at the beginning of cooking.

The cilantro and peppers are added at the end of cooking!

I have another recipe like this and it's actually better:

In a pot fry diced onion, hot dogs, bacon, tomato set a side.

Cook pintos in same pot adding water as needed.

At the end of cooking add the ingredients that you fried and the cilantro leaf's with jalapenos.  It is a little soupy so you eat it in a cup probably like your sis in law's!

Also adding a cube of fresh garlic to the pot will give lots of flavor, just remove before serving.

  7. Well I know the name in spanish: Lentejas. Well I guess it is lentejas. Is it kind of a soup? With all those ingredients in a bowl with like little round emmmm pasta? like the size of an O?? If it is, then it is Lentejas, if it's not then I have no idea :-D Here's a link, it's a little different, everyone makes it their own way, but it's almost the same all over: http://www.recipezaar.com/139205

Ohh it could also be Frijoles Charros, here's a link: http://www.recipezaar.com/15217  and here's another with jalapeños:

    Hope this helps.
