REAL Mexican food rivals REAL Italian food in the age and evolution and complexity of the native cuisine.  I am a little biased, so I would say interior Mexican cuisine first.  A good Tamale en Mole or a real Taco with hand made corn tortillas, I think you are in heaven .  If it's Taco Bell or something similar, forget it.  If it's Lasagna or Spaghetti at your corner Italian American joint, forget it.   Might as well get a steak or a burger instead.  Its as authentic.

Mexican...the flavors are more diverse.  They're both great...but I like the spicy cuisine of Mexico!

And tequila is better than grappa

Italian all the way, mexican cuisine which is good, tends to be boring, not to much diversity, most dishes are the same, but in a different tortilla, or bread. Italian is way more delicious, diverse, elegant, and creative
