Question:

Mexican places in Detroit?

I am going to be in Metro Detroit next weekend with my Mexican boyfriend. I would love to take him to places where we can eat real Mexican food, listen to real Mexican music, and even find some people who can speak to him en espanol. I have heard good things about the Mexicantown neighborhood. Any good restaurants or places to hang there? Thanks!

  1. don't listen to those other bi*ches. listen to me !

    go to "La Gallina"

they're chicken can kick your a*s

  2. I'm Mexican... the last thing I wanted to do when I visited a friend in MN was to eat at a Mexican restaurant.  We, not all, have Mexican food daily.

Treat your guest to a meal that he hasn't tried.  You don't want him to think because he is Mexican you will will only do Mexican related things.

  3. Don Carlos in Roseville, Gratiot and 14 Mile rd.

  4. I think the best placeis Armando's on Bagley (pretty much all the restaurants are on Bagley).I've also heard good things about Mexicantown Restaurant and Mexican Village restaurant.  I used to love Xochimilco, but they have gone downhill a lot in the past few years, so I wouldn't go there. Enjoy!

  5. Well as I can see you have already heard of MexianTown and some people have given you some restuarant suggestions.

I agree with what someone above said and why not take him to a different place.  If you want to try something  after heading to MexicanTown, head to Greektown. It has a great atmosphere with many restaurants (my personal fav is Fishbone's). It also has a casino (don't know if you guys gamble).

Depending on your crowd tolerance you might to go earlier in the day because it can get pretty crowded at night and it's also right downtown so it's close to other things as well.

    Hope this helps.
