Mexican rice ?

I have traveled through Mexico buy land through 23 of her 31 states and have yet to see anywhere that may grow rice.

Is it all imported , packaged and sold

Mexico is basically an arid country.  Not enough water for rice paddies.  Irrigation is used to grow vegetable crops mainly.

Mexico does not grow any Rice.  It was not a product consumed by the locals before the European migration.  The Spanish colony introduced Rice in the menu, but it had never been grown to any significant scale in Mexico.
