Mexico Cruises and Passports?

Question

I'm a US citizen and my husband is Philippines citizen. Is there going to be a problem or anything extra need to be done when we're going on a Mexico cruise? We both need to take passports, but the agent said to make sure Philippines is in good relation to Mexico?! What does that mean? How do I know if my husband's passport is multi-entry visa passport?
