I'm about to move to Mexico and I'm wondering what colonias are close to Polanco but are not that expensive.

Thanks!

  1. Condesa and Roma are not too far, but they're way too crowded (especially with shops, bars, etc.) and the buildings there are a bit old in general (and not many of them are refurbished). There are other neighborhoods called Anzures and Irrigacion where you could find decently priced (not cheap) apartments, or others such as Anahuac and Granada which are fairly cheap but the areas are not that nice.... hope that helped.

  2. Colonia Del Valle is very nice and everything you need is near, Banks, department stores, malls, movies, theaters, schools, parks, church, etc.

main avenues are surrounding the area (Insurgentes, viaducto, periferico, churubusco).

People are middle class up and very educated.

  3. Usually polanco is considered any of these colonias: Polanco, Polanco reforma, Chapultepec morales, and Polanco Chapultepec (main streets: ejercito nacional, homero, horacio, masaryk, moliere, FFCC cuernavaca, mariano escobedo)

These neighborhoods are surrounded by the following:

To the south (more expensive than polanco):

rincon del bosque, residencial del bosque, bosque de chapultepec, polanco chapultepec (main streets: campos eliseos, ruben dario, luis g urbina, etc)

To the west (jewish community, a bit less expensive than polanco):

Los morales alameda, Los morales palmas,  palmitas (main streets: (ferrocarril cuernavaca, horacio, homero, periferico)

To the north (the less expensive area around)

There's irrigación, granada, anahuac (main streets: ejercito nacional, cervantes, lago alberto, rio san joaquin)

To the east (a bit less expensive than polanco):

anzures, nueva anzures, veronica anzures, casa blanca (mains streets: thiers, guttenberg, mariano escobedo, bahia de la ascencion)

Some people answered regarding colonia del valle, roma or condesa... these are not surrounding polanco... condesa, cuauhtemoc and roma are kinda close to the east, tecamachalco, lomas de chapultepec and virreyes are kinda close to the west (more expensive), and colonia del valle, napoles and narvarte are kinda close to the south. PLEASE BE ADIVISED THAT AS MEXICO CITY IS HUGE, THE TERM *KINDA* IS VERY RELATIVE.. SPECIALLY DURING RUSH HOURS

Depending on where you will be working, studying or whatever, I could give you better advice based on traffic and that sort of things
