  1. I don't know about you not being permitted to eat at restaurants or stay at hotels, but now you know how mexicans feel in the US. As far as checking white on the census, that goes for race, not ethnicity. If you look at the census, it asks first race, then to further specify white hispanic, or white non-hispanic. This also applies now on death certificates. and just so you know mexicans don't deny being Indian, we are proud to be of Indian descent

  2. >>>>> I was not permitted to eat at many fancy restaurants OR stay at fancy hotels

I don' think you tried fancy.  This is just a rant !!

  3. Yes it is true. Mexico seems , in my opinion, a very racist country. Everyone wants to be white and they are jealous of those who are whiter and discriminatory towards those who are darker.

  4. Yes its a shame, actually I made a similar question saying that theres racism AGAINST WHITES IN MEXICO TOO but they say it is not as always, we have every kind of racism there.

  5. I somewhat agree with you,but they are all not like that

  6. Rascism is a nasty subject, most folks who practice it dont even like to admit it, like the old women who call blacks Dakies, because they find it offensive to their "Station" to say Darkie.

Sure Mexico freed their slaves before the US did, but even though it is 2007 there are stereotypes and hatreds that will linger for years to come, as for the WHY, no one can say for sure, not even I, I just like to remind you of the near fact that if you were to look into it, stupid hatreds are more common among lower class people (morally, economically ect.) and just try to be a better person even if they are not trying to be.

  7. Dont take it personal...thats how are cultural is! My sister... we call her Negra cause she's darker then us..but we dont say it with hate! They call me gordo cause im a little fat...but not cause they hate me...its just a sign of love! Iv been to tacos stands in mexico and they call me guerro(white) but they say it a nice way......its just us mexicans like to give nick names! I have family in mexico and everybody their has a nickname,,,everybody! But about the entering of hotels and restaurants its happen to me to...but not cause of my skin but how i dress(sneakers) People in mexcio are racist against one another...the rich and middle class dont like the poor and their all mexican! But o well what are we gonna do with this world...dont take it personal partner this world is being taken over by the devil...GOD HELP US ALL!

  8. you are a true liar and loser, this that you said no is true and this date that you wrote don´t are true too, stupid.

  9. You must be kidding. It's hard to believe you were not accepted in those places...

Well; not to hard: What race are you?

If you are black, you shouldn't have problems, we assume you are foreigner, a tourist. There are very few blacks in Mexico.

There are not asians or blacks at TV, because less than 1% of population is from that races TOGETHER.

Yes, mexican are racist, but to other mexicans.

Anyway, I'm really sorry. I agree that racism comes from ignorance. Please, don't excuse that mexican racists, but don't think we all are the same.

  10. ok...i have totally seen this kind of racism...it's really weird.  however, i don't agree with you that most mexicans are 60% indian or more.  there are many "white" mexicans...if you are using white as a skin color.

as far as the names...that's very common in mexico.  people are just visual and they will point out if someone is fat, ugly, dark, asian, or whatever.  but as far as the hotel and eating thing...honestly, and i'm not trying to be mean...but i think that's a total load of c**p.  unless you showed up in rags, looking like you couldn't pay the bill, or you have the worst cholo look around...i do not for one second believe you were not allowed to eat in nice restaurants or stay in nice hotels.

  11. I'm sorry that you experienced this. It's true, sadly: we mexicans are pretty racist even among ourselves (you know, there are this classy "VIP" clubs where there's a guy ressembling a gorilla in front of a chain blocking the access to everyone and picking who enters and who doesn't....... I'm white and I was subject to this kind of treatment more than once, in which case I just left and went somewhere else, of course). I do agree that people who discriminate you because of the color of your skin or the $$ you have are plain ignorant and jerks, here or anywhere else in the world (people in the US aren't a lot better, you know.... been there too and it's amazing how they discriminate themselves too, especially white-vs-black). I don't think there's racism against Asian people, though, we're having more of them living here lately and I don't see them having this problem, but people with darker skin or who don't seem to have $$ or education do..... hopefully this will change over time, because it's true we're all of indian descent even if some people have blond hair or blue eyes.... that's just genetics, it doesn't mean they're any better than people with darker skin. The problem is that "indians" (the purer they are, the worse it gets) are related to poverty, lack of formal/school education and unemployment.... and yeah, it's true that most of the beggars you find on the street are indians, so that's why people who ressemble them are rejected automatically (and unfairly). I'm sorry that this happened to you and hope you don't get treated like that again here or elsewhere.

  12. Dear pal, racism is asign of ignorance, spiritual and mental poverty. Unfortunately it's quite common for the American and most of Europeans to be racist. Acá en Brazil no tenemos este problema. Not with color.

Where are you from? What a h**l were you ding in Mexico? Is it the first time you undergo such a thing?

  13. I've been to Mexico a dozen times and never ever saw anything like that happen to any blacks or Chinese. Money is money to them and I can't believe they wouldn't take your money because of how you look. Maybe I'm being ignorant and if I am, I'm very very sorry, but I just don't believe that. Oh, I believe the names they use, but I don't believe they kicked you out on your *** at "fancy restaurants and hotels". Sorry.

  14. My mate, I am a Mexican living in Cancun, the most visited city by north Americans. It all depends on which town you've been to, because each city has a different culture (and like any other place in the world, people have their own prejudices).

I have to say that racism in Mexico is something that happens every day. Not only to black or Asian visitors, but also between Mexicans. Like in most parts of the world, whites own the best houses, cars, etc. Unlike some white supremacists or even regular US proud citizens may think, we know that the US are not to blame for all our economic, social and political problems (but we do know that your government is to blame for a great deal of problems in the whole world).

So, my advice is: Don't take it personal! I'm sure being called "negrito" or "chino" is not something that makes you happy, but I'm also sure that most of the people in Mexico who called you that way didn't mean to be aggressive, it's just them trying to be friendly and funny, amigou! (of course it's not the best way, but maybe the only way they know). If you were not allowed to enter a place and you were not being rude, you weren't drunk or stoned, or dressed like a bum, you should complain (yes, in Mexico you can complain, too), there is an office called PROFECO, and depending on the case, they can even shut the place down.

Finally, just remember that most of our modern Third World societies have been modeled after yours! If you have racism back in the US, what made you think your little brother would be any different?
