Question:

Mexico-US bus companies?

I've heard there are Mexican companies running buses between US cities and Mexican cities. Are there ones leaving from cities in the Midwest (the closer to Minnesota the better), how much do they cost, and are they better than Greyhound?

  1. The First Class Greyhound busses are the best rides in Mexico...

  2. Wow !! a lot of info below that is not exactly, in my opinion, true or useful. I have taken the bus a number of times from the US to Mexico as I am a US citizen living in Mexico. Call this 800 number, 1 888 378 6678 for the service from the US. Now I will tell you this, what I do is take this bus to the border and then once in Mexico I change to the ADO or UNO line which you can get information on at www.ticketbus.com.mx some of the buses from the US change to ADO with the same ticket so check it out when you call them. It will also depend on where you are going in Mexico. I travel all the way to the Yucatan so comfort is a big issue. Good Luck and enjoy

  3. ok....i don't know what the first person is talking about...greyhound does not operate on mexico.  i find  these us/mexico buses are the best to take to mexico, because you don't have to worry about all the changing of buses, and they typically go much faster than greyhound.  I use Americanos, which I know goes all the way to Chicago, but I don't know about where you live.  these buses will be about the comfort level of greyhound...which isn't so comfortable.  and they will also be a bit more "family operated" and not so formal, or so scheduled.

another option...take a bus to the border...Laredo.  then cross over to nuevo laredo by foot and take a taxi to "el estacion de linea ETN"  (not the regualr bus station, the ETN station...it's a nice line, so they have their own, super nice bus station) they are the MOST comfortable bus line in all of mexico, and you can use their website...www.etn.com.mx to see if they travel to where you would like to go.  if you haven't been on these types of buses...you are in for a treat.  they are soooo comfortable.  a bit more expensive, but well worth it.

you seem to be traveling so far...i would try and find a super cheap plane ticket to the border...and then once you cross into mexico, use the buses.

  5. See the article below and read the section titled."Crossing the border " and the next paragraph too.  Then, see the next site to check what Greyhound offers, and the 3rd site is the main Mexican bus ticket info site. I know there are buses that go straight from Chicago.  Check with the bus station nearest you and they should be able to get the  info for you.
