Question:

Mexico trip during springbreak?

since this is our grad year, eight of us girls are going to puerto vallarta for spring break. We have one adult coming. So we are going to be split up in 3 ppl per room. Our travel agent, who actually seems like a total goof, told us that we didnt need to worry about having minors in the rooms without adults. But some parents have said that they know from experience that it will be an issue? Does anyone really know for sure?

  1. Listen to the parents. A few young girls have been raped and murdered in tourist areas around the world. A good hotel will make sure you are safe, heavy security. Just don't be dumb and put yourself in danger, inviting local guys to your rooms is a no-no.

  2. If you are over 18 yrs old, you are considered an adult in Mexico.

Some hotels do require that you have someone older than 18 as a chaperon, but I'm not sure that it is a rule.

  3. Like the US, Mexican businesses can decide the rules for customers. Each hotel in PV chooses whether or not to allow "spring breakers", whatever their age. You have to contact the hotel before you make reservations, to see how they feel. Puerto Vallarta fills up its rooms this time of year, so find your hotel soon. You will have a great time, just remember you are in a foreign country, and you have to follow their rules. Booze is fine, losing control in public can get you arrested and drugs will cost you more than you dare to think.
