Mexico vs. South Africa: First Half Highlights

The Mexico vs. South Africa soccer match to start the 2010 World Cup Games 2010 is underway with both teams taking to the field in Johannesburg Stadium.  The Mexico vs. South Africa game beings the world's largest sports tournament followed by fans around the world.

The soccer match has gone through its first half with no scores in the game. The referee for the in a World Cup. The ball starts rolling and we see Mexico having the early possession of the ball. Vela gives a cross that goes wide and Dos Santos had trouble getting to it and the ball ended up going out. Mexico started with attacking down the right flank, but Giovani Dos Santos isn't quick enough to get past Khune. Mexico is sending waves of attack mostly down the right flank during this part of the game. match is Irmatov Ravshan from Uzbekistan. Mexico is expected to come away with the victory in the Group A match as the powerful team will be too tough a task for the Bafana Bafana team.

Mexico has advanced out of its group in four straight World Cups, and will count on scoring from an aging star and a host of young gunners to try to make it five straight. Cuauhtemoc Blanco is a crafty 37 year old who will look to create opportunities for the youngsters on the team, including Giovani Dos Santos, Andres Guardado, Javier Hernandez, and Carlos Vera w

South Africa and Mexico make their way onto the field with the South African President Jacob Zuma officially declaring the World Cup open. The national anthems sounded at the stadium which was the only time when the vuvuzuelas were quiet and then they were in full force again.

And then the game is on. We see South Africa have their first opportunity at the Mexican goal which barely goes into the box. Mphela comes up against Perez and the Mexican goalkeeper leaves his goal and sends the ball out. Marquez down on a foul from Pienaar (Marquez has been recovering from a knock suffered against Italy). The first corner we see is for Mexico. A header by Franco goes up and over the goal. Free kick for South Africa and Tshabalala gets brought down by Salcido. The free kick is taken by Pienaar, but the ball goes over the goal.

Then we witness the first yellow of the World Cup for Efrain Juarez. A hand ball is marked and the player complains and earns a yellow. Mexico gets the ball and takes it up the field, but Giovani Dos Santos' final shot goes over goal. Then a Yellow Card is given to Efraín Juárez. The ball goes in from Aguilar but is caught by Khune before Marquez could get to it. Mphela takes a shot from the right side of the box, but Perez stops it.

The ball possession gets more evened out with South Africa attacking with more frequency and then Dikgacoi receives a yellow for a foul on Dos Santos. Another yellow card, this time it goes to Kagisho Dikgacoi. Next we witness a free kick from Marquez which ends up going over the goal. Franco in the box, chests down the ball from Vela but Khune blocks the shot. Dos Santos shot gets deflected out, over goal leading to a corner for Mexico. But it's called off-side and the teams remain at a draw.

Vela puts the ball into the back of the net by chesting it down and burying it into the back of the net, next Dos Santos sends in the free kick, and Franco's header ends up going over the goal. A cross by Tshabalala is not met by Mphela in front of goal and a corner kick for South Africa is headed by Dikgacoi, but it's sent wide. The first half ends like it started, with zero goals from each side.
