Mexico’s Lorena Ochoa to return to golf at Lacoste Ladies Open de France
Lorena Ochoa, the Mexican golfer has announced a partial return to professional sports. She will play in the upcoming Lacoste Ladies Open de France.
Lorena Ochoa, the Mexican superstar retired from the sport in 2010. At that time, she announced that she was leaving to start a family. She gave birth to a son in December 2011.
Ochoa is very excited to start competing in professional golf events again. She has had a brilliant pro career before retiring in 2010.
With 30 wins to her credit, she was considered to be the finest golfer Mexico has produced over the years.
Commenting on her return to the Open de France event, she said, “I am very grateful to the organising committee of the Lacoste Ladies Open de France for extending this invitation and I am excited to be returning to play in an official tournament for the
first time since returning in April 2010”.
Not surprisingly, she has a busy schedule this year, playing in events at France, Mexico and Norway. This is a great opportunity for Ochoa to return to the game and regain her lost form.
This factor of form is particularly important, as she will face younger players in much better form than her. Nevertheless, experts say that it will not take Ochoa long to regain her former golf prowess.
The longer a golfer stays away from pro golf events, the faster they lose the form. Ochoa is fortunate in this regard. She has been away for just two years and that has not affected her game much.
Once she steps into the golf green again, she will face players like Yani Tseng, Suzann Pettersen, Ai Miyazato and Stacy Lewis, to name a few.
She will have plenty of opposition in the coming tournaments as more and more young professional and amateur players compete for a decent place on the leaderboard.
For Ochoa, the highlight of the year will be the tournament named after her. The Lorena Ochoa Invitational is scheduled to be held in Ochoa’s home town, Guadalajara, Mexico. The event will run from November 8 to 11.
