Meydan will be packed on 31st March, 2012 to witness the crowning of the winner of the Dubai World Cup
Dubai World Cup Night is an annual event held at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Dubai World Cup Night’s card consists of six Thoroughbred races. This event is run by the Emirates Racing Authority, and it is currently the richest
single day of racing with a purse of U.S. $21 million.
The festival has the Dubai Kahayla Classic, Al Quoz Sprint, Godolphin Mile, Dubai Gold Cup, U.A.E Derby, Dubai Golden Shaheen, Dubai Duty Free Stakes, Dubai Sheema Classic, and the Dubai World Cup.
Dubai World Cup is scheduled to take place on 31st March, 2012. The best horses, trainers and jockeys are preparing for this event in full force. It is an inter-continental race where runners from every corner of the world will
be competing for the purse.
Victoire Pisa, under Italian jockey Mirco Demuro, was the winner of the Dubai World Cup in 2011. With his stellar performance, the five-year old horse won the prize of £3,846,153.85.
The son of Neo Universe, out of Whitewater Affair, impressed crowds and created an aura of excitement, as he aced the Group 1 Dubai World Cup Sponsored by Emirates Airline, on 26th March, 2011.
The Japanese horse triumphed over, Transcend, by a narrow margin of ½ a length, and landed a majestic finish. His trainer, Katsuhiko Sumii’s hard work paid off in a glorious manner.
For the $10 million Dubai World Cup 2012, the top American contenders are Animal Kingdom, Acclamation, Midnight Interlude, Prayer for Relief, Ruler On Ice, and Royal Delta.
Animal Kingdom, son of Leroidesanimaux, out of Dalicia, is expected to have a positive impact on the race, based on his previous performances.
H. Graham Motion’s training, has already been massively successful. His most recent victory was acquired at the Gulfstream Park in the United States, where he defeated Monument Hill by 2 lengths. He was a favourite in that race, and proved his worth
with his victory in the Allowance Optional Claiming Race, on 18th February, 2012.
Animal Kingdom’s performance in the Grade 1 137th Kentucky Derby Presented By Yum! Brands earned him respect and a significant amount of attention. He succeeded over Nehro by 2 ¾ lengths, at Churchill Downs on 7th May,
2011.
Acclamation is also another tough competitor, who is looking to make his way to the front in this race. Trained by Donald Warren, the six-year-old horse has also secured five consecutive first place finishes.
He grabbed the attention of the bookmakers when he claimed the victory at Del Mar, on 29th August, 2011. The son of Unusual Heat, out of Winning In Style, caused a major upset as he defeated the race favourite, Twirling Candy
in the Grade 1 TVG Pacific Classic Stakes.
He is being named one of the top contenders with the skill and capability to steal the competition and finish first.
Trained by Bob Baffert, Midnight Interlude, is another tough competitor. His importance rose with his victory in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby, on 10th April, 2011. With that win, the bookmakers are confident that he can race
in the same manner again.
With the Dubai World Cup just around the corner, the trainers are taking their horses through work-outs and exercises. The bookmakers are keeping a close eye on the runners to analyse which one of these runners will earn them the gold. The horse-racing
