Mi Jin Jung treads into second stage of qualifying round – Korea Open Update
Women’s Singles campaigner Mi Jin Jung had a perfect start in Victor Korea Open as she thrashed Tatjana Bibik in the opening match and marched into second stage of qualifying round on January 8, 2013.
This short-lived tussle was staged at local badminton arena of Seoul and it remained in full swing for 31 minutes.
Both contenders played impeccable badminton and wrapped this showdown with an impressive result of 21-16 and 21-17.
However, the Korean shuttler displayed better finishing skills and locked the honour with a straight-set victory.
Mi Jin laid foundation of her supremacy by winning first set with distinction and then served notice of her dominance also in the following game.
On the other hand, the Russian campaigner took off in perfect manner but her fluctuated performance brought her down.
In the opening game, Tatjana Bibik unleashed a flurry of power packed strokes and bagged many valuable points.
This intensive attack put the native shuttler under huge pressure as she could not rise in next couple of rallies.
However, Mi Jin did not take much time to end this bad patch and she managed to storm back way before the half time.
At first, she levelled the score and then piled up a mountainous figure of 11 before the announcement of break.
After the interval, she did not drop her pace and left the opposing shuttler far behind on points table.
Though, Tatjana Bibik made every effort to counterbalance the situation but she surrendered after reading 16-21 score on the board.
The following game was also played in similar fashion as the Russian player was in commanding position in the beginning but then the story was entirely different in latter part of the game.
In first half of the set, Tatjana played flawless badminton and kept his competitor at lower end. She maintained a significant difference until the one-minute break and raised her chances of success.
After the mid-game break, Mi Jin showed a transformed character and tipped the scale in her favour. She registered a winning margin of 21-17 and sealed her straight-set victory.
Now she will lock horns with Min Ji Lee to gain access to main round of Korea Open.
