Mi horse is too smart?!

Question

mi horse wont eat electrolytes, in his feed, or gatorade, or anything. he avoids wat ever i do to try to trick him. i tried hand feeding him, making a mash including gatorade, tried adding it to his water. he just wont eat it! any ideas?! please i need help i barrel race and he needs them!

try soaking a few apple slices, carrot pieces, etc. in gatorade overnight. if that doesn't work then you might have to get a syringe and syringe it into the back of his throat. but when you do wear leather gloves. otherwise his molars will cut your fingers. its happened to me before and it hurts!!! it might help to have another person there to hold his head so you can do this safely. if you need anymore help or more details then send me a email or message me. hope this helps!!!

well i dont know if you can actually bake out electrylites, but if not, bake something and mix in gatorade. horses love people food, but make it more horse friendly. like a special horse cake, and give him a slice everyday. that makes sense to me, but does it sound stupid? lol good luck!

Try putting them into a carrot or him favourite treat. Put them in his feed and only give him that specific feed so he will have to eat them. If you have to trick him to worm him, use that same trick.

I don't think you should really give gatorade to horse though. It has too much sugar and preservatives...Try a product specifically made for horses.

first off, your horse probably doesn't really NEED them desperately. but anyway... instead of using electrolytes, try putting table salt in his feed. this will make him more thirsty and make him drink more; eliminating the need for the electrolytes. another thing you can do is make your own treats out of grain (you can find receipes online), put some molasses in a small bowl, mix in the electrolytes, and drizzle the molasses/electrolye mix over the treats. since the treats have a new taste, he wont know that the additives are in there.
