Question:

Miami Dade School Transfer

My current address leads me to go to one school(#1), while my old address that the district has leads me to go to another school(#2). I like the "other school"(#2) better because it's new. What would happen if I change my address to my current address? Would I be forced to change to a school in my zone?

  1. You are going to have to go to school #1 but there are ways around it.  If the school is a high school you need to find a class that school #2 offers that school #1 does not offer.  Most of the time a high school can offer certain AP classes because they have staff members willing and able to teach it.  Because school starts in less than 2 weeks, it might not be possible to get the transfer.  Please be aware that there are people that work at the schools that DO confirm addresses especially of the students that are constantly tardy, absent, or in trouble.  Also be aware that depending on what grade you are in, you may be alllowed to finish at school #2.

Just remember, what makes a school good is what is on the inside, the teachers, administration, and students.  There are many old schools that are just as good or even better than new schools.
