Miami Dolphins’ Brandon Marshall released from hospital after being stabbed by wife – NFL News
Brandon Marshall, wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins was released from a hospital in the Southern Florida area on Saturday, one day after his wife stabbed him with a kitchen knife in the stomach, according to the police report.
His wife, Michi Nagomi-Marshall, married the wide receiver last year and was released on $7,500 bond after being arrested on Friday for one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
A source with knowledge of the situation said that Marshall had a punctured abdomen that required surgery, as well as defensive wounds on both of his hands. His agent, Kennard McGuire, expects that the Marshall will be good as new within three weeks.
"This is a very difficult time for Brandon and family," McGuire and Marshall's lawyer, Harvey Steinberg, said in a joint statement. "Thankfully, he will make a full recovery. We simply ask that his privacy is respected."
Both Steinberg and McGuire were at Marshall’s side on Saturday.
27-year-old Marshall provided sworn testimony that he had slipped and fell on a broken glass vase. However, the area in the home where the glass was broken did not have any blood to support his claim. The couple’s home is located in Southwest Ranches near
the Dolphins’ training facility in Davie, Florida.
The report also said that after police read Nagomi-Marshall her Miranda rights, she said that she used a kitchen knife to stab Marshall in self defence. The police report also claimed that the couple provided only “scant details” about exactly what happened.
The sheriff’s office said that the incident is still being investigated.
"We are aware of the report, and our thoughts are with Brandon at this time," Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene said in a statement. "We will look into the matter, but because we are not allowed to have any contact with any of our players, we will refrain
from making any further comment.”
Although the current National Football League lockout prohibits contact between teams and players, an NFL spokesman said that, in Marshall’s case, "The team doctor can see him. The trainer and team doctor can consult with his other doctors. The team can
send well wishes or other types of appropriate expressions of support."
This is not the first time that the couple has had a run-in with the law. They met when they were students at the University of Central Florida and Marshall was arrested after a fight with his future wife, who was then known as Michi Leshase Nagomi-Campbell.
Police were summoned to Marshall’s home in the incident, which took place in March of 2009, after a heated argument between the couple. In the presence of police, the couple began punching and kicking each other outside of the home. They were both uninjured
and then arrested and booked into Atlanta City Jail. Charges were later dropped after the couple refused to testify against each other.
