Miami Dolphins RB Reggie Bush apologises over n**i reference tweets-NFL News
Miami Dolphins’ running back, Reggie Bush, has been forced on the back foot over his n**i reference tweets, issuing a formal apology over the words of his postings surfaced on his account a couple of days ago.
Initially, the player had attempted to play down the situation stemming from his comments on Twitter that "Shoot Drogba might even hit a n**i chick tonight in Germany! LOL!" but could not get away without an apology.
His reference was the game of 2012 UEFA Champions League final played between the English club Chelsea and Bayern Munich of Germany, in which Didier Drogba kicked the winning hit for Chelsea.
Bush was hit out at by a number of tweets in response to his posting and in spite of playing around the situation he had to apologise for it at the end.
He earlier said:
"Oh goodness bunch of sensitive cry babies on twitter! It's just jokes people send me your address and I'll personally FedEx you some tissue."
Next day, he changed his mind and wrote:
"If anyone was offended by my jokes on twitter yesterday I apologise. They were only jokes and were not intended for anything other than that."
No one from his team or the National Football League (NFL) has said anything about his remarks, including if the player faces prospects of a disciplinary action from the regulator or Dolphins’ management.
Generally, comments like the reference to n***s are taken very seriously at all levels and the player was seen on the course of facing an action over the tweets.
Now, given he has apologised over his action he might be able to avoid the possibility of punishment successfully.
This was second time in a row during the past week that the player had made it to news over a controversial situation.
On Friday, May 18, he had tweeted about the delay in his flight while coming back from New York.
However, his latest tweets were rather serious, which later made him realise sensitivity of the situation and calm it down with immediate removal of the tweet while issuing an unconditional apology.
