Miami Dolphins believe New England Patriots showed lack of respect in Week 13 – NFL News
Even though Miami Dolphins failed to stop the running game of New England Patriots during Week 13, they now allege that Patriots showed disrespect by getting similar plays throughout the game.
In an interview with The Palm Beach Post on Thursday, December 06, 2012, defensive tackle Tony McDaniel expressed his frustration about how Patriots kept on coming against him during the game. He said:
"It really (ticked) me off. It was disrespectful to us to run the same play over and over and be successful. Normally when somebody's driving down the field, you just think, 'Well, they just had a good run there,' but you run the same play over and over,
as a competitor, that (ticks) me off."
McDaniel was the only defensive lineman available for the game. He struggled against the Patriots offence that ran the ball in 13 out of 16 plays.
The comments made by McDaniel were also affirmed by fellow defensive tackle Randy Starks. Starks said:
“It is disrespectful, but you’ve got to stop it. We never stopped it, so I’d keep running the same play, too.”
Even though Dolphins are putting blame on Patriots for all the problems they faced last week, they must take into consideration that it is their responsibility to keep the opponents from going through their defences.
If facing Patriots was difficult, then it would be a mammoth task for Dolphins to take on San Francisco 49ers offence which emphasises more on running game rather than passing game with running back Frank Gore at its peak.
Giving his views about going up against 49ers, Starks said:
“They’ve done the same thing for 13 weeks now. I don’t see why they would change now. It’s going to be a smash-mouth offence against a smash-mouth defence.”
Apart from Week 13, Dolphins have been impressive in stopping the run. The team is currently ranked eighth in run defence.
Dolphins are hopeful to have safety Jimmy Wilson available for the game against 49ers. Linebacker Karlos Dansby, Koa Misi and Austin Spitler are all expected to return to the field.
