Miami Dolphins defeat injuries hit Washington Redskins for first home win in week 10 – NFL Recap
Miami Dolphins managed to down Washington Redskins successfully on Sunday, November 13th to record their first home win after span of almost a year.
This was the second consecutive Miami's win in the current season of the American football's premier league, National Football League (NFL). They overpowered Redskins with a clear margin of 20-9. This was also their first home
win in the current season, as they already have played about eight games of the season.
This was their 9th consecutive game, and almost halfway through to the current season before the Super Bowl, they stand at 2-7, with two wins and seven losses.
“It became a point where we were, ‘What the h**l is going on?’’’ Dolphins defensive end Kendall Langford said of the win. “We kept trying to figure it out. We kept doing things and the results weren’t good. It was basically Miami
beating Miami. But today we finished the game, just like we did last week.”
At half time Miami's lead was measured only 10-6. This came off the points from a 19-yard punt return by Bess who had set up a 45-yeard drive. It was then Reggie Bush's only a yard touchdown that gave the Dolphins to score the
lead just before the half way through the competition.
Redskins seemed struggling from that moment and never really got back and just 3 points after the half-time to lose the game 9-20's difference.
It has not been since October 2 that the Washington Redskins have held a lead. Last time they did was against the St. Louis when they beat them. This was also the longest losing streak of their current coach Mike Shanahan.
Despite the fact that Shanahan made some important changes, it just wasn’t a day for the Redskins. In his first change in the last four games, Shanahan switched quarterback again to start with Rex Grossman, for the first time.
He replaced John Beck after benching him for four weeks. The move came as a surprise for many.
However, Grossman did not help the Redskins. He threw for 215 yards, had two interceptions. He, however, was sacked three times. He only managed to finish with a passer at the 58.7 rating. This was the lower that the worst season
figures of the north football conference.
Dolphins dominated the game right from beginning and did not give many chances to their opponent. They forced two turnovers. It was not bigger than the Karlos Dansby's (linebacker) fourth quarter interception. This came as key
help to the Miami's way to win.
"This is two games in a row here where we didn't allow them to score (a touchdown)," Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said. "Kind of bent, didn't break, came up with some big plays … Karlos' play was a huge play down there."
Miami coach Tony Sparano said that it was nice to come out as the winner. He said the win was seen as a hill but definitely not a mountain for the team.
