Miami Dolphins end Oakland Raiders winning streak in Week 13 – NFL Recap
Miami Dolphins ended Oakland Raiders’ hopes of a fourth straight win on Sunday, 4th December as they soared ahead of them 34-14. The Miami have kept the lead in their race against the Raiders by winning nine of the last ten encounters
between the two sides.
The Dolphins kept the lead for the entire game as the Raiders failed to outscore them for even a single quarter. The first quarter saw two field goals of 48 and 33 yards being hit by Dan Carpenter helping the Dolphins to take a
lead which they would maintain throughout the game. The raiders failed to score in the second quarter too as the Dolphins kept ahead of them 13-0 with the help of a touchdown by Davone Bess off a 12 Yard Pass from Matt Moore.
The Miami offence was more brutal in the third quarter as they had the game turned in their favour with three touchdowns.
The first touchdown was a 1 yard run scored by Reggie Bush off the kick of Dan Carpenter Kick. Carpenter managed another touchdown kick nine minutes later to Matt Moore who was quick to score a 6 yard touchdown. Carpenter excelled
again in less than a minute with an interception. This time Kevin Burnett took to a 34 Yard touchdown on Carpenter’s kick, helping the Dolphins lead the game 34-0.
In the fourth quarter, the Raiders sprang to action as Carson Palmer threw two touchdown passes. One was a 40 yard pass to T.J. Houshmandzadeh while the next one was a 3 yard pass to Darrius Heyward just four minutes later. However,
the Raiders were unable to match the Dolphins as the final quarter ended 34-14.
This was the fourth win for Miami out of their past five games. Matt Moore completed 13 of 25 passes for 162 yards and scored a touchdown. Reggie Bush ran for 100 yards on 22 carries and scored a touchdown.
The Raiders were devastated at the loss. Palmer completed 20 out of a total of 41 passes for 273 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Both the rushing leaders of Oakland, Bush and Murphy failed top score a touchdown.
Oakland head coach, Hue Jackson saddened over the loss, told the press, "We couldn't run. We couldn't stop the run. We didn't pass very well. Just a bad day at the office."
Linebacker Rolando McClain was on the field for Raiders. He had been arrested three days earlier on assault charges. He tried easing the Miami offence with eight tackles but wasn’t successful.
It now seems that Dolphins Head Coach Tony Sparano who was once about to be fired from his job is now safe.
