Miami Dolphins lead potential suitors waiting for Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning-NFL News
The reported decision of Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback, Peyton Manning’s release comes as good news for the teams that have been desperately hoping and waiting for it, and a number of them including Miami Dolphins could not help hide the excitement of
exploring the opportunity of bringing him home.
Colts are reported to confirm release of the QB officially at a news conference on Wednesday, March 07, 2012 and he is set to hit the unrestricted free agency market after the trade deadline of March 13, 2012.
Some sections of media had earlier reported that the player was on the mind of Dolphins’ management and they most likely would go for his signing provided he was released by Colts, which is now certain.
Now with the recent reports confirming his release, they are once again reported to have discussed this option.
The team has reportedly discussed it over a board meeting recently while pondering upon all aspects related to Manning’s signing.
The discussion reflects on the team’s serious interest in targeting the quarterback irrespective of the financial conditions. The player has already hinted at to be flexible with the terms of the prospective deals and accepting one without a guaranteed money
upfront.
Similar news had earlier emerged linking the New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks to Manning’s singing options. As a matter of fact, Jets have explicitly desired to pursue him on his availability in the market.
A few more teams are reported to have been silently holding ambitions of signing Manning.
Irrespective to this, the player has not yet spoken of his preferences, which leaves him open to all the sides.
Jets could possibly be Manning’s next destination as his brother, Eli Manning, plays for New York Giants.
If Peyton joins Jets, he will be able to reside close to his younger brother who had also spoken in favour of Peyton’s arrival in New York.
Until the emergence of the release reports, Peyton explicitly desired to keep playing for Colts on his return from the injury.
With that option almost over, the prospects regarding Peyton’s future are yet to be known.
The situation is expected to be clear after official confirmation of his cut by Colts. He might come up with some clues about his future plans, which could help ascertaining his future course.
The player has played successively for 14 years with Colts and broke all the team's records during his career at Indianapolis.
He did not miss a single game during all those years, and 2011-12 NFL season remains the only miss due to his neck problem.
Meanwhile, Colts are exploring their option of singing a new quarterback in the upcoming NFL drafts in April. The new QB is expected to stay with the franchise for a long period of time.
