Miami Dolphins look to continue their winning run as they face New York Jets in Week 3 – NFL Preview
After a good show in their 35-13 win against Oakland Raiders, Miami Dolphins hope to carry on their good form as they host New York Jets in Week 3 game on Sunday at Sun Life Stadium, Miami, Florida.
Meanwhile, New York Jets (1-1) will aim for a better performance after an inconsistent start which led them to an astounding 48-28 victory in the season opener against Buffalo Bills, and a 27-10 loss against Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.
It will be the first of two games both teams will play against each other this season. Jets will have to give similar performance like they did against Bills.
This game will also mark return of Dolphins former head coach and Jets current offensive coordinator Tony Sparano to Miami. Sparano spent four years in Miami, finishing with 29-32 record.
The offensive play will depend on how the starting quarterback Mark Sanchez manages to play in this game. Jets have continued with Sanchez despite good performance by backup quarterback Tim Tebow during his limited time on the field.
They showed signs of dullness and sloppiness against Steelers, a reminiscent of their preseason woes. Tebow said:
"We can't get negative plays, it always hurts when you do, I felt like we had things rolling for a little ... but it's a game of momentum. When you lose it, it's hard to get it back."
On the other side of the game, Jets have been much more consistent. The defence will be boosted by presence of star cornerback Darrelle Revis, who is cleared to play in Sunday’s game.
Jets defence will have to show concreteness in the third down where they failed to give solid performance against Steelers.
On the other hand, Dolphins (1-1) will have to grind out results like they did in Week 2. This is already a better start for them under new head coach Joe Philbin as compared to the last season in which they lost their first seven games.
The offence looks stronger with their running back Reggie Bush in his prime form. Bush is going through a splendid run of games.
He has been unable to meet the expectation throughout his career of being the second overall pick of the 2006 draft.
He has been splendid during his last six league games, getting 126.7 rushing yards. Dolphins defence has been satisfying overall. Philbin said:
"We want to be a team that gets better as the year goes along. We've made a couple of strides, but we've got a million miles to go."
