Miami Dolphins lose two quarterbacks for the season
The Miami Dolphins' top two quarterbacks, Chad Pennington and Chad Henne, could be out for the rest of the season after the two players were injured in the Dolphins 29-17 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday 14 November.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington, the NFL's two-time comeback player of the year, got one play into his third comeback before he was taken out of the Dolphins game against the Tennessee with yet another injury to his shoulder.
Jay Glazer of the NFL Network and Fox Sports reported that the Dolphins believe Pennington's shoulder, which has been surgically repaired three times, could be dislocated.
"For him to have another shoulder problem, it's tough," Henne said following the game, after Pennington had refused to discuss the situation with reporters. "I'm sure he's going to have some decisions to make when he finds out what's going on. We're stuck
with this situation. We'll see what happens."
Henne came out of the game with a knee injury in the third quarter after being tackled by defensive tackle Tony Brown. Henne is scheduled to undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the injury.
"It doesn't feel good," Henne said. "But if I can stand it, if I can run on it, I'm going to play. We'll see what happens. I'm not going to be one to baby my knee. If I can be out there, I'll be out there."
In the meantime, the Dolphins will have to turn to third-string quarterback Tyler Thigpen, and should be expected to sign a free agent backup during the week.
Thigpen was 4-for-6 and threw for 64 yards and one touchdown helping the Dolphins get the victory on Sunday.
Several names have been thrown around by several sources as to who the Dolphins are considering signing to back up Thigpen. Expect something official later in the week.
