Miami Dolphins’ owner Stephen Ross denies meddling into front office affairs-NFL News
Miami Dolphins’ owner, Stephen Ross, has finally broken his silence on the allegations of meddling into the team’s affairs and denied exerting any influence on his managers hiring firing decisions.
Ross said he did not have any role in his front office activities and that he never pressed the managers for pursuing signing of Texas A&M’s quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, who is weighed to be the third or fourth overall pick in 2012 National Football League
(NFL) draft due to be held from Thursday, April 26 to Saturday, April 28.
Some sections of media claimed that the owner was particularly interested in Tannehill and apparently had directed his managers to explore the opportunity.
With the owner’s denial, some of the football community circles still believe that Dolphins will definitely go for Tannehill if an opportunity comes.
Jacksonville Jaguars’ director of player personnel, Terry McDonough, said of Dolphins chances of hiring the quarterback:
"People know Miami's going to take (Tannehill). If a team wants a quarterback, they're going to have to come in front of Miami."
Dolphins’ general manager, Jeff Ireland, who has rather become an apparent target of the team’s fans, said that he will be pursuing an opportunity to sign the best player for his team off the draft.
He, however, added that the best player will not necessarily be the best quarterback, apparently attempting to clear the situation around their reported interest for Tannehill.
Most recently, the debate has gained firm grounds that the Dolphins will be going after the number eight overall draft position. Again, the owner was linked to be leading the campaign.
This leaves the situation overall into much controversy and confusion once again, drawing apparent displeasures of fans, who already are critical of the way the management has handled the team matters recently.
