Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill hopeful for Week 9 game against Indianapolis Colts – NFL News
Miami Dolphins are taking a cautious approach in playing their starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill in Week 9 game against Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, November 04, 2012.
Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin has not yet revealed the exact condition of Tannehill’s injury. The team has listed him as questionable in the injury report.
Tannehill again took limited snaps in the Dolphins’ third practice session of the week on Friday, November 02.
The quarterback was barred from taking snaps during first team practice on Monday, but has been gradually improving his fitness after taking part in all three sessions.
The coach has indicated that Dolphins will evaluate Tannehill’s condition before the start of the game. Talking to the reporters after Friday’s practice session, Philbin said:
“We’re going to make a decision as soon as we have enough relevant information to make a good decision. We have no timetable on that.”
Tannehill injured his thigh and left knee during the first quarter of the Dolphins’ Week 8 game against New York Jets.
The quarterback got a sack and from Jets linebacker Calvin Pace and then failed to carry on in the rest of the game. Talking after that game, Tannehill said:
“You just want to see where you’re at and I think you want to see if you get your range of motion back. You want to see if the pain’s tolerable and you’re still able to do the things throwing the ball and you’re still able to take your drop-backs and step
into throws. I don’t know what to expect but I’ve just got to take the week on as I do always.”
Tannehill has put up 59% pass completion rate this season and has covered 1,472 passing yards along with four touchdowns.
In case Tannehill becomes unavailable on Sunday, Dolphins will play backup quarterback Matt Moore, who is regarded as one of the best backups in the National Football League (NFL).
Moore played well in the game against Jets. He finished with 11 of 19 for 131 yards and a touchdown. Moore himself is listed as probable in the injury report, but will start if Tannehill fails to do so.
