Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill returns to practice, limited in workout – NFL News
Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill made his way to the practice field on Wednesday, October 31, 2012.
It was the first time that Tannehill participated in the practice session since getting injured during Week 8 game against New York Jets last Sunday, October 28. He got a deep bruise on his thigh and hyperextended his left knee during the first quarter.
Tannehill remained limited on the practice field. Although the quarterback took part in the passing drills, he did not take any snaps with the starting team.
Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin has given no clear indication whether Tannehill will be able to play in Week 9 game against Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, November 04. Talking about his chances of playing on Sunday, Tannehill said:
"I'm just taking it one day at a time, I'm going to do everything I can to be ready, and hopefully that's the case."
Backup quarterback Matt Moore replaced Tannehill after the injury during the game and showed good performance on the field. Tannehill had words of appreciation for his fellow quarterback. Tannehill said:
"I couldn't be more excited for Matt and the way he went in cold off the bench, after not getting a lot of reps in practice, going in and winning the game for us. He threw the ball really well."
If Tannehill manages to get fully fit before the next game, he will face a team with a capable rookie quarterback Andrew Luck.
Tannehill admitted that there is a lot of buzz around this game as a matchup between the two rookies who are in superb form, but insisted he is only concentrating on his return right now. He said:
"It's a story line, It's exciting for a lot of people. But you're not really thinking about the other quarterback."
Many media analysts are predicting that Dolphins will play with Moore as a precaution. This will be a very reasonable decision as Moore is capable enough to lead the team.
Dolphins drafted Tannehill as the eighth overall pick in this year’s draft. He has completed 120 out of 203 passes for 1,472 yards and has scored four touchdowns this season which is an exceptional record for a rookie.
